I found a thread on VAF about the installation of the threaded rod. This is a copy of the explanation, the important thing being the position of the thread of the bolt relative to the lever.



So I turned the bolt around on the mixture lever.



I then drilled the firewall for the penetration of the alternate door actuation cable. The hole is covered with a stainless steel shield I fabricated. I took a fraction of the time it took last time to produce the shield.



I then installed the cable on the filter air box. The picture shows the alternate air door closed.



An this is the door in the open position, which allows non filtered air to enter the engine in case the sccop or the filter gets blocked.
Once open, the door can only be closed after landng only.



I then dicide to work on the cabin side of the engine controls installation. Befor that I noticed that the forward fairing can no lay flat due to an interference qith one of the fuel pump tubings (the large tubing opposite the nutplate). Some more work for later.



I also drilled the holes in the small forward fairing.
One can then see that all the cables will have to be installed from the panel through all the holes to the engine, as the knobs are larger than all the holes I drilled.

The mixture cable has been installed on the injection body. I had to add a washer to widen the gap between the bearing and the lever.
I have to check the bolt orientation, I've read something on VAF about that.



This is how the cable goes through the firewall. I found a small problem as I had drilled the ball for the Vans cable, but the one I have to use has no protective sleeving so the diameter is a bit smaller. For the time being I just wrapped it in some tape, I will arrange this at final installetion.



I then installed the blast tubes. This is the one for the fuel pump, secured with a cotter pin.



This is on the engine side, the one with the cotter pin, for the fuel pump and the other one for the left magneto.

I first finished the exhaust installation, some of the bolts on the hangers had not been torqued.
I then riveted the baffle seal, some sixty pop rivets to pull.
I now hav e to get the seal to the proper shape and fill all the voids with high temperature RTV.

Before working on the installation of the FAB, I have to cut the scoop on the lower cowl. It had been fabricated a tad too long. The idea is to have a 1/4' gap between the rear edge of the scoop and the forward edge of the FAB. After some work with a cutting disk, this is the result.



I then rivet the seal at the front. I used some proseal to get the seal to conform to the corners.



I then bolted the injection body to the engine and installed the FAB upper plate. The four bolts are installed with star washers and are safety tied. It would be a pity if one of them were to travel through the injection body to the engine.

The workshop need some cleaning before the winter session. The paints, resins and other stuff usable when by warm weather were put into storage and all the parts needed for the panel and electricty taken out of storage.
I also found two problems.
First, despite being careful, the right fuel line is bent and nedds to be replaced. I think I will go with hoses.



Then I found the throttle cable I ordered this summer doesn't have the correct mounting hardware so I will have to reorder the correct one.
