The weather being rainy I could not begin the priming. So I decided to have a look at the strobe and nav lights installation. As I have new wing tips, the elements are a bit small for new opening. The idea is to fabricate an aluminium part which will cover the support part and then install the strobes and lights. Unfortunately the leftover aluminium parts I had did not fit correctly and were abit to thick. I'll continue this installation once I have some more aluminium sheets. Before beginning the priming, I prepared some small parts (the second light support...) and among them was the pitch servo support bracket. The bracket gets installed behind the rear fuselage foremost bulkhead (behind the luggage area). The plans are not exactly depicting what I have. After having verified that my parts were all correctly assembled I decided that I would have to adapt teh bracket. On the picture, the bracket is unpainted, there will be a row of rivets on the upper part (those are already installed on the rib, I'll have to drill them out). On the lower part, the flange will lie on the lower skin, so I'll have to drill some holes to rivet the skin and flange together. First I drilled ou the rivets on the rib, and drilled the lower flange. Having all cleacoed to the skin, I backdrilled the skin and bracket. Then everything got deburred, dimpled and sanded. I'm very happy I did all this before riveting the fuselage, this would have been very interesting with all the parts already assembled. Working time on this subpart Today : 1h (Total : 25h) |
