Today I decided to install temporarely the interior. I wanted to do this to see which parts will have to be painted the intérior color. I think its unecessary to paint all the parts that will be hidden by the interior. First I had to reinstall all the floors, decks... Then I installed all the interior elements. I made a lot of pictures to see all the patches that have to be painted. Relativelly in the lower part, but all the upper part. As the gear weldments will be under the carpet, I decide to bolt them on. Some bolts are quite difficult to get on and at the end I noticed that the bolts seemed too short. The problem is known and one has only to install longer bolts. On the picture, the left bolt is the correct length, the two on the right are too short as there is no thread visible beyond the bolt. First I begun by redoing some part of the cabin frame. During the deburrin operation I noticed that I had some edge distance problems on the reinforcing strip. This was due to the fact that the holes on the frame had slightly too much edge distance. As the holes are were far apart, there is enough room to add some rivets in between. On the picture, on the frame above, the countersunk holes are too far from the edges, those in between look good. Then I installed the landing gear leg supports. To do this I had to unscrew two small supports, drill out two nuplates and file a bit some interference with some skin rivets. Working time on this subpart Today : 2h (Total : 92h) |

Still deburring all the parts supporting the instrument panel and the firewall. I also did the dimpling on the parts from yesterday and today. The one part left over is the instruments panel reinforcing angle. Due to the complexity of the cuts, it take some time to finish the removal of all the cut marks. I still have some light touch-up to do. Working time on this subpart Today : 5h (Total : 90h) |

Today no big visual progress, in spite of the three hours in the workshop. I didn't like the way the air vents where bolted on the rear support, a piece of angle riveted to the fuselage side skin. With my non standard vents, getting the nuts on would have been difficult, so I decided to redo the angle with some thicker material and install platenuts. Here is the result, with two platenuts on the angle, and one on the bracket. Working time on this subpart Today : 3h (Total : 82h) |
