Still working on the tips. I first install some aluminium reinforcing strips along the flanges to avoid having the rivets tear through the fiberglass.




Then I reinstall all the empennage parts on the fuselage, this will allow to see the alignments and gaps between all the controls.
Before that I have to rivet the forward mount of the vertical stab. To be honest I had to do it twice as it was on the wrong side the first time.




Here all the parts are on the fuselage again.

As I will shortly have to fabricate the front fairing of the canopy, I gain some experience with fiberglass and epoxy on smaller parts.
So I continue installing the tips on the rudder. We'll see the results tomorrow.

The results of my first work with epoxy was not very good, I think it's due to the low temperature in my workshop.
I managed to get the lower rudder tip work quite good by storing the rudder in the house. Today I sanded this part, which still needs some more work and also reinstalled the famous strobe light nuts.

First work with composites on the projet and for me.
I first put some flox on the upper rudder tip.



I then riveted the rudder lower tip and "floxed" the gaps between skin and tip.



And to finish,I glued the rib and put some flox on the vertical stab tip. We'll see the results tomorrow.

Today, I installed the lower rudder tip. There are a few cuts to make and it took quite longer than expected to have an acceptable fit. I the drilled and coutersunk the holes. I'll rivet the part later because while working on it, I managed to separate the two halves where the nav light gets installed. So I took out the bolts I had glued in and glued the part together. I'll put in some new bolts another time.
